This is not a modern reproduction or a newly developed fabric inspired by the past.
The original idea was to combine two indigo-dyeing methods in a single fabric, allowing each yarn to age at a different rate.
With hank dyeing, yarn is dyed in bundled form and repeatedly immersed in natural indigo.
Rope-dyed yarn, by contrast, is primarily colored around its outer surface.
By alternating these two yarns in the warp, the fabric contains two different forms of indigo and two different rhythms of aging.
Gradually, a vertical stripe-like contrast begins to emerge along the direction of the warp.
Traditional whiskers, honeycombs, seam abrasion, and high-contact fading develop together with this vertical contrast.
The true character of the fabric is intended to emerge slowly through the wearer’s own movement, habits, and time.
The broad surface of the silhouette gives the fabric space to develop its vertical contrast clearly over time.
As the denim softens, the wide shape gradually adapts to the wearer and develops an increasingly personal expression.

M1015RC HAI ONE WASH. A 40-year-old deadstock denim, waiting for its hidden stripes to emerge.
Woven with two distinctly different indigo-dyed yarns, this 14.0oz GR LABEL Natural Indigo Hank-Dyed WILD DUCK JEANS carries an extraordinary denim story that began approximately four decades ago.
■ A deadstock denim born approximately 40 years ago
The denim used for this model was originally conceived and produced approximately 40 years ago.
Despite its remarkable construction, it was never made into a finished product and remained untouched in storage for decades.
This is not a modern reproduction or a newly developed fabric inspired by the past.
It is authentic deadstock denim woven at the time, preserved through the years and finally brought to life as a pair of jeans.
The original idea was to combine two indigo-dyeing methods in a single fabric, allowing each yarn to age at a different rate.
What was imagined approximately 40 years ago can now be revealed through years of wear.
■ Fabric — 14.0oz natural indigo hank-dyed denim
The warp is composed of two different types of indigo yarn arranged alternately throughout the fabric.
One is dyed with Awa Shoai, the traditional natural indigo of Tokushima, using a time-intensive hank-dyeing method. The other is dyed using conventional indigo rope dyeing.
With hank dyeing, yarn is dyed in bundled form and repeatedly immersed in natural indigo.
This traditional process creates a deep, nuanced blue with the distinctive richness and variation associated with genuine natural indigo.
Rope-dyed yarn, by contrast, is primarily colored around its outer surface.
As the denim is worn, friction and washing gradually remove the surface indigo, allowing the lighter inner core of the yarn to become visible.
By alternating these two yarns in the warp, the fabric contains two different forms of indigo and two different rhythms of aging.
It is an almost dreamlike construction, designed to reveal a pattern that does not fully exist until the denim has been worn.
■ Aging — Hidden stripes revealed through wear
At the beginning, the denim presents a deep and composed indigo appearance. The difference between the two warp yarns remains subtle, almost hidden within the fabric.
With continued wear, the rope-dyed yarns begin to fade more noticeably, while the deeper color of the Awa Shoai hank-dyed yarns remains.
Gradually, a vertical stripe-like contrast begins to emerge along the direction of the warp.
This is not a printed pattern or a surface treatment. It is a natural result of two differently dyed yarns aging side by side.
Traditional whiskers, honeycombs, seam abrasion, and high-contact fading develop together with this vertical contrast.
The longer the jeans are worn, the more clearly the original concept of the fabric reveals itself.
■ Finish — ONE WASH
This model is finished with a single wash, preserving the deep indigo color and powerful character of the deadstock denim while making it easier to wear from the beginning.
At the one-wash stage, the stripe-like contrast remains understated.
The true character of the fabric is intended to emerge slowly through the wearer’s own movement, habits, and time.
Each crease and faded area becomes part of the process, gradually uncovering a pattern that has been waiting for approximately 40 years.
■ Silhouette — WIDE STRAIGHT
The silhouette is a relaxed WIDE STRAIGHT with generous room through the hip, thigh, knee, and hem.
A deeper rise and substantial leg allow the weight, texture, and unusual aging of the 14.0oz denim to be fully appreciated.
The broad surface of the silhouette gives the fabric space to develop its vertical contrast clearly over time.
It pairs naturally with T-shirts, sweatshirts, work shirts, denim jackets, leather jackets, and boots.
As the denim softens, the wide shape gradually adapts to the wearer and develops an increasingly personal expression.
A denim conceived approximately 40 years ago, beginning its true life only now.
