Inspired by unknown vintage jeans from American store brands of the 1940s, this model reinterprets the so-called “WWII jeans” — denim born out of wartime austerity. During World War II, material restrictions led to simplified metal parts, coarser fabric, and minimized stitching. BIG JOHN reimagines this iconic style through a modern lens.

By carefully deconstructing surviving vintage pieces, BIG JOHN studied every detail of their construction and material feel. "What if BIG JOHN had been making jeans in the 1940s?"
The M1011W WWII Model answers that question with precision and practicality, using today’s techniques to recreate the authenticity of the past.

10oz WWII SELVAGE DENIM (Unfinished)

・Composition: 100% Cotton (20% Material Recycled Cotton)

Made with 20% recycled cotton — re-spun from irregular yarn, offcuts, and deadstock — the denim faithfully reproduces the hairy texture, nep character, dry handfeel, and uneven surface typical of short-staple fibers.
The warp yarns are starch-sized and densely woven on old-style shuttle looms with low tension, giving the fabric a vintage-like character and a plump, springy feel.
Although it weighs just 10oz, it has the appearance of a 13oz denim, offering a substantial look while remaining comfortable for summer wear.

Every detail is based on the functional and utilitarian aesthetic of the era. Prioritizing durability and practicality over flashiness, this design carries the DNA of 1940s store-brand work jeans.

■ Notes
・Although pre-washed and sun-dried, slight shrinkage may still occur.
・For best results, hem after 2–3 washes. If hemming earlier, allow about 1 inch for possible shrinkage.
・Avoid tumble drying and chlorine bleach. Refer to the care label during washing.
